Job description
A leading, rapidly growing transportation company focusing on high-value investments in shipping, intermodal, aviation, and rail is seeking a Senior Accountant. Candidates with varying levels of relevant experience are welcome. The successful applicant will join a diverse, multi-jurisdictional accounting and finance team supporting an expanding ship-owning group.
Preferred candidates will have accounting and finance experience, ideally with backgrounds in Audit, Shipping, and/or transportation, or a strong willingness to learn the industry. The role requires excellent English communication skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, international environment. This position is based in Limassol, Cyprus, and reports to the group's Accounting Manager, with guidance from senior stakeholders.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Maintain books and records, ensuring timely and accurate periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) closing and reporting for group companies (Group GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS).
- Perform and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Manage accruals and provisions with stakeholders.
- Prepare and review trial balances.
- Follow accounting policies and controls.
- Produce standalone and consolidated financial statements for entities in multiple jurisdictions.
- Handle post-fixture financial operations for vessels, including service fee revenue and receivables, and oversee vendor cost verification and approval.
Job requirements
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with proficiency in English and ability to interact with senior management.
• Strong financial and accounting experience; maritime industry background is a plus.
• Pursuing or holding ACA, ACCA, C.P.A., or equivalent Chartered Accountant certification.
• Proven track record of top performance.
• Understanding of US GAAP and IFRS, with ability to work with other GAAPs by analyzing issues and liaising with auditors.
• Proactive, diligent, reliable, driven, and self-motivated, adaptable to changing priorities.
• Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, delivering quality results within deadlines.
• Committed to professional development through ongoing feedback and quality improvement initiatives.
• Proficient with software packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and adaptable to new technologies (automation, system rollouts).
• Rigorous, methodical, and analytical.
• Skilled in project management, able to manage tasks, conduct research, and develop effective proposals.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively, building long-term relationships.
