Job description

We're seeking for a Financial Controller, on behalf of our client a group of company within the shipping industry. The individual will join a dynamic and expanding accounting and finance team that operates across multiple jurisdictions, supporting a growing group of ship owners.


Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee financial control and reporting processes for designated sub-groups and fleets, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across various accounting standards (Group GAAP, US GAAP, IFRS).

- Conduct financial planning & analysis, provide senior management with high-quality reporting, budget vs actuals analysis, and forecasts in collaboration with Operations, Technical, Commercial, Legal, and Newbuilding teams.

- Act as a key business partner for management information, preparing and presenting detailed business reviews.

- Ensure compliance with loan covenants and optimize cash management, including proposing shareholder distributions.

- Collaborate with external auditors, tax practitioners, and service providers.

- Manage financial statements for standalone and consolidated business units.

- Project manage tasks and business change initiatives, including system implementations and process improvements.

- Strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency across the group.

- Support senior management requests and evaluate investment transactions.

- Assist in financial oversight and governance of portfolio businesses within the group.

- Establish and maintain accounting and finance procedures, policies, and filing structures.

Job requirements



  • Strong English communication (verbal, written, presentation) for interactions with senior management.
  • Solid background in financial and accounting roles, ideally in the maritime industry.
  • ACA, ACCA, C.P.A., or equivalent Chartered Accountant qualification required.
  • Proven track record of high performance.
  • Understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, and ability to work with different accounting standards.
  • Proactive, reliable, adaptable, and deadline-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with new technologies.
  • Methodical, analytical, and capable of making informed decisions and recommendations.
  • Experience in managing projects, conducting research, and delivering effective presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, building effective relationships.
